He sets fire to his landlord’s house and escapes. Roaming invisible in the cold London streets, he enters a shop to steal clothes, food, and money. When people discover him, he removes his clothes again and escapes by becoming invisible. Later, Griffin arrives in a quiet village called Iping and rents a room at an inn, still hiding his identity. He behaves rudely and secretly continues his work...
