Modals (सहायक क्रिया)

 

Modals are auxiliary (helping) verbs used to express abilities, possibilities, permissions, obligations, or polite requests. They do not change according to the subject and are always followed by the base form of the main verb.

 

Modals अंग्रेजी में सहायक क्रिया (Helping Verbs) हैं, जिनका उपयोग विशेष प्रकार के भाव, जैसे क्षमता, संभावना, अनुमति, बाध्यता, और निवेदन, व्यक्त करने के लिए किया जाता है।

Rules of Modals

 

1.  Modals are followed by the base form of the verb.
Example: She can dance. (can + dance, not dances).

2.  Modals do not take 's', 'ed', or 'ing' forms.
Incorrect: He cans run.
Correct: He can run.

3.  Modals do not require additional auxiliary verbs to form questions or negatives.

o    Question: Can you help me?

o    Negative: He cannot (can't) help me.

 

Modals के नियम

1.  Modals के साथ मुख्य क्रिया (Verb) हमेशा मूल रूप (Base Form) में रहती है।

o    सही: She can dance.

o    गलत: She can dances.

2.  Modals कभी भी 's', 'ed', या 'ing' के साथ नहीं आते।

o    सही: He could run.

o    गलत: He could running.

3.  नकारात्मक वाक्य (Negative Sentences) बनाने के लिए 'not' का उपयोग Modals के बाद किया जाता है।

o    Example: She cannot (can't) swim.

o    Example: He might not come today.

4.  Modals से प्रश्न बनाने के लिए Auxiliary Verb को वाक्य की शुरुआत में रखा जाता है।

o    Example: Can you help me?

o    Example: Shall we start the meeting?

1.  रिक्त स्थान भरें:

o    You ___ (can/must) finish your homework today.

o    You ___ (should/may) drink plenty of water daily.

o    We ___ (can/must) follow traffic rules for safety.

2.  हिन्दी वाक्यों का अनुवाद करें:

o    हमें अपने माता-पिता का सम्मान करना चाहिए।

o    क्या वह फुटबॉल खेल सकता है?

o    उसे सुबह जल्दी उठना होगा।

o    हमें अपने लक्ष्य को प्राप्त करने के लिए कड़ी मेहनत करनी चाहिए।

o    क्या मैं आपकी मदद कर सकता हूँ?

o    तुमने ऐसा कहने की हिम्मत कैसे की?
